Hope on the Table: Combating Food Insecurity in Nigeria

Our goal is to encourage and assist Nigerians who reside in Nigeria, with soaring food costs by providing groceries for families at or below the poverty line. 70% of people in Nigeria live in poverty, and The World Bank estimates an additional 7 million Nigerians could be plunged into poverty by the end of the year. The current rate of inflation in the United States is 3.7%, and while we may consider that high—the monthly inflation rate in Nigeria is now 3.2%. Food inflation reached 29% in August 2023 and continues to escalate.

While I am grateful that I can send money to them biweekly, my heart aches for those without that extra boost. Many people do not have family members in more stable countries willing to assist them; therefore, they suffer tremendously. I have considered attempting to donate through other organizations, but I am afraid the money will not go to those who need it most. I am starting this nonprofit to ensure people receive the help they need.
